Abstract

Ideally, the concept of jinn in Islamic education is understood clearly and proportionally based on authoritative Islamic sources, so that it can foster learners who are faithful, rational, and morally balanced. However, in the reality of classroom practice, discussions of jinn are often presented in a simplistic manner and intermixed with local myths, popular narratives, and non-educational fear, which may obscure the true objectives of aqidah education. This study aims to clarify the concept of jinn from the perspective of Islamic education and to reposition it as meaningful, humanistic, and contextual learning material. The research employs a qualitative approach through library research by analyzing the Qur’an, Hadith, classical and contemporary tafsir works, as well as relevant scholarly literature in Islamic education. The findings indicate that jinn are unseen beings created by Allah, endowed with intellect, moral responsibility, and accountability under divine law, similar to humans. Therefore, teaching about jinn should be conducted in a rational, balanced, and pedagogical manner, emphasizing the strengthening of faith, tawhid awareness, and students’ critical thinking. This conceptual clarification is expected to enhance the quality of Islamic Religious Education that is academically sound, humanistic, and responsive to contemporary educational challenges.
